Experimenting with Surface Tension

Today we did an experiment to look at surface tension. We put milk in a dish, and dropped some food colouring into it. We noticed that the food colouring floated on top of the milk. Then we put dish liquid on to a cotton bud. We dipped the cotton bud into the milk and watched magic happen. Here are some photo's.

Patterning

Korora are learning about patterns. Patterns appear in art, maths, and literacy. We see patterns in days of the week, months of the year. Your child should be able to talk to you about where a pattern repeats. Please bring patterns you find to your child's attention. We made patterns in class based on colour and shape. Look for the class displays. To help with spelling I would like children to build patterns of at least 3 parts, this helps building spelling patterns based on rhyme e.g. cat, mat, pat.

Using our knowledge of Patterns

Today we made wrapping paper using our knowledge of patterns to create our sheet of wrapping paper.
