Ordering the Cups

Harvey, Renny and Ben worked on the coloured cup challenge. We didn't have cups so substituted coloured popsicle sticks. Then we did not have a white stick so used a purple stick instead. Do you agree with their solution?

Don't Throw That Away!

The Tui's group read 'Don't Throw That Away' last week. It was a story about a girl who collected unwanted materials to make a dragon. This is Ben, Skye, Jasper, Connor and Lincoln's dragon.

Stream visit

We had a wonderful day at Dorothy Falls Stream. We found lots of mayflies, stoneflies, and damselflies under the rocks. Our father helpers netted an eel! Thanks to Lauren from Department of Conservation who showed us how to kick net and helped identify our critters. We had a lovely walk around the Kahikatea Walk at Sunny bight before lunch. We are learning how to identify fresh water that is safe to drink, and learning how we can help to keep our water clean.

Slime Time

WE have had a wonderful time making slime in Room 4. it took a couple of goes to get right but now we think we have refined the art of Slime. We used Mr Science Slime Time recipe: 1/4 teaspoon Guar Gum, borax solution, glitter, two drops of Food colouring and 100ml of water. First we mixed the borax in a cup of water and set it aside. Then we got 100ml of water and sprinkled the guar gum on stirring as we added it so we did not have any lumps. Next we added two drops of food colouring and stirred. Then we added 2ml of the borax, and stirred, stirred in the glitter then 2 more ml of borax solution. We were very proud of our efforts
